Field Trip: Forgotten Suburban Landscape Posted by Sonja on August 27, 2016August 29, 2016 There are some places we simply absorb. However, when I stop, linger, and consider them more closely, they seem to speak loudly to me. Suburban Landscape. Pencil Sketch on A3 Drawing Paper. Sonja Parsonage 2016. I really like the one of the ‘Dressing Room’ sign and the chair. I have no idea why. It’s the shadow I think…
Hi there! Yes, I like that one too. I think it works because the shadow gives the composition a “landscape” proportion which we are very accustomed to. Your eye is amazed at the coincidence that the proportion falls exactly between the words. I think our brains love patterns and associations like this! We get a message from our brain that there is “something significant going on here!” and it gets our attention! Do you agree?
